Big Apple Circus presents Luminocity: A One Ring Circus of Joy and Wonder

On Saturday, my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to take our 3.5 year old son and 1.5 year old daughter to Big Apple Circus in Boston at City Hall Plaza. Big Apple Circus is in their 36th season, and for good reason. This is the kind of show that offers good old-fashioned fun for the entire family. The adults are laughing at the constant stream of jokes, the kids are smiling in amazement, and no matter where you look, the audience is happy.

And it's easy to look around at the audience because the Big Top is a very intimate place. No seat is more than 50 feet from ringside! This makes you feel like you are actually part of the acts. We were so close to the ring that my daughter actually believed she could just get in the ring and ride the horses. The performers walked down the aisle right next to us, and I could tell that the proximity to the ring made my children feel connected with the acts in a very special way.

The real surprise was that my daughter, who has earned the nickname of "The Blur" because she is in constant motion, was completely mesmerized by the entire show. She laughed, smiled, clapped, pointed and yelled out comments to the performers throughout, and to see that made this circus experience even more incredible for us. If you have little ones who have a hard time sitting still, this is the show to take them to! They will feel dazzled and like they are part of the show, and that is just invaluable.
Big Apple CircusHighlights of the show for us included:- Ty Tojo, the fifteen year old from Japan who does the most amazing juggling routine. It's not surprising that he is the holder of three Guinness World Records!
- The Acro-Duo from Russia who perform incredible feats of strength and balance.
- Jenny Vidbel who captured the hearts of my little ones with her sweet and fun interactions with horses, ponies, and dogs.
- Daniel Cyr from Canada who does unbelievable tricks of balance on a ladder.
I highly recommend this show to families with children of all ages and hope you can experience the magic of Big Apple Circus's Luminocity while it is in the Boston area!
