About Monkey Mama Necklaces
Monkey Mama Necklaces are beautiful, safe, functional, and ethical necklaces created with nursing and babywearing mamas in mind. Monkey Mama Necklaces offers pendants that are gorgeous and handmade, and non-toxic and highly durable, as well as fairly traded on every step of their journey to you. The lovely, UK based shop owner Nat has created a variety of stylish nursing and teething necklaces. They were inspired by her own little monkey, Isaac, born in February 2010.
Each necklace is created with handmade resin beads in beautiful, lush colors. Nat uses super tough cotton cording and incorporates strong knotting techniques for extra security, so no matter how much your own little monkey pulls, bites, twiddles, or tugs on the necklace, she will be safe, and your Monkey Mama necklace will continue to look fantastic.
About the Non Toxic 'Twiddle Buster' Pendant
I've been wearing my twiddle buster pendant non-stop since it arrived, and as you can see above, I also adored the sweet packaging that Nat so lovingly sent it in. The funky yet natural look of the necklace fits so well with my personal style, and my baby girl took to it like a moth to a flame. See below for a quick picture that I snapped as I held my four month old daughter for the first time while wearing the necklace. She grabbed my Monkey Mama necklace immediately!
This necklace couldn't have arrived at a more appropriate time in my nursling's life as she had just started pinching my arms repeatedly while nursing with her chubby, little fingers. When I wear the necklace, she tugs on it instead, so I am feeling very thankful.
My daughter is also in the stage of putting absolutely anything she can get her hands on into her mouth. It's such a relief to know that my necklace is completely non-toxic and able to stand up to her constant gnawing. I regularly wear my little one in an ErgoBaby carrier, so twiddling the necklace also keeps her happily occupied during her mama rides.
I have worn my Monkey Mama necklace almost every single day for a month. My daughter has pulled on it, sucked on it, chewed it, and yanked it with all of her strength. The necklace still looks as perfect as the day I received it.
On a sentimental note, I love the twiddle buster because it is not only a gorgeous piece of jewelry, but also the shape of the pendant is reminiscent of a pregnant woman - an empowering reminder of my daughter's VBAC birth story.
